12.22.2017 - Fall Semester Wrap-Up

TROY, NY – After a disappointing start to the season, the Engineers ended their fall games on a 6-1 run. The start of the semester included a few sizable defeats in a row. An inspired 7-1 victory over Binghamton University was their only win over an eight game stretch, however the Engineers began to show promise.

Despite losing an additional four games over the next stint, all of these defeats were narrow margins, only a goal or two each. Also of note was the prowess of these opponents, including current ranked first and second in the Northeast, William Paterson University and University of Massachusetts Amherst, respectively.

The Engineers rallied with a two win road weekend in Connecticut, and followed up with another victory on the road at Boston College before their brief break for Thanksgiving. A 5-3 loss to Keene State was their only blemish for the rest of the semester, and was followed up the next night with a defining 6-1 victory over the University of Connecticut. The Engineers would finish the semester with a 2-0 weekend over their cross-town rival Siena, including a marvelous finish by #10 Nat Foster seven seconds into overtime to conclude the second game.

While opening up in the rankings in a less-than-ideal 14th position, the Engineers performance since then have moved them up to go into the holiday break ranked 12th. Hopes of a return trip to the National Championship requires the Engineers to continue their current streak and to keep moving up in the rankings.

Thank you for your continued support, and hopes for a successful spring semester!
